Cecylia Barczyk

In 1983, Polish-born Cecylia Barczyk began teaching at Towson as an Associate Professor of Music. Barzcyk founded the International Cello Festival at Towson University in 1986 in order to bring together skilled celloists under a program theme chosen each year together with the International Friends of the Cello. She taught masterclasses in Beijing, Xian, Xiamen, in addition to performing as a soloist in the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and Tianjin Conservatory Orchestra. For her work to establish an exchange program between Towson and China, Professor Barzcyk was awarded the title of Distinguished Honorary Professor by the Tianjin Conservatory of Music.

After retiring from Towson, she became the Artistic Director of The Intermuse International Music Institute and Festival, where she teaches cello, piano, and coaches chamber ensembles.
