Deaf Studies Program
Towson's Deaf Studies program, established in 2000, comprises both a major and minor in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. The program focuses on American Sign Language competency as well as familiarity with Deaf history and culture.
Prior to the establishment of the major, various departments and student groups at Towson developed courses, hosted lectures, and held events to promote wider understanding of Deaf culture. This collection traces the development of Deaf Studies at Towson from the 1980s to the present day.
