Keyboard shortcuts can be used to navigate aspects of this site without a mouse or cursor.


When viewing a document, select or tab into the image viewer and use the following controls to manipulate the image.


  • Move up: w or [up arrow]
  • Move down: s or [down arrow]
  • Move left: a or [left arrow]
  • Move right: d or [right arrow]
  • Return to centre: 0
  • Zoom in: = or [shift] + w or [shift] + [up arrow]
  • Zoom out: - or [shift] + s or [shift] + [down arrow]
  • Rotate clockwise: r
  • Rotate counterclockwise: R
  • Flip horizontally: f

Jewish Studies Collections

This collecting area features materials pertaining to Jewish culture and religion. Browse rare books, sculptures, and publications, as well as materials within the Baltimore Hebrew Institute Special Collections.

Baltimore Hebrew Institute Special Collections

In 2009, Towson University incoorperated the Baltimore Hebrew Insitute (BHI) into its academic programming. At the same time it also merged the libraries of the two universities. The BHI Collections at TU include Baltimore Hebrew University records and rare books, artifacts, WWII-era Jewish Cultural Reconstruction books, and Yizkor (memorial) books.

Louis Rosenthal Miniature Sculpture Collection

This collection consists of miniature bronze sculptures created by Baltimore-based jewish sculptor, Louis Rosenthal. The pieces featured here are between one and four inches tall and grapple with historical, mythological, biblical, satirical, and whimsical themes.

Martyrdom and Resistance

Martyrdom and Resistance is a bi-monthly publication from the American Society for Yad Vashem, and covers topics in Holocaust education, research, documentation and commemoration, with the goal of keeping the lessons and memory of the Holocaust alive. Materials in this collection cover 1981 - 2006.

Leon Bloomberg Papers

A collection of letters from Jewish-American infantryman Leon Bloomberg to his wife, Esther Bloomberg. Witten during the end of World War II, September 1944 to February 1946.
