Agenda: 1. Report from NEH. 2. Present faculty and departmental commitment a) Courses now scheduled: Summer 72, History 491: Biographical Studies: American Women, Rivers Fall 72, English: The Image of Woman In 19th and 20th Century American Literature, Hedges (upper division English or consent of instructor) Philosophy 400: The Idea of Woman In Philosophy, Fuchs (day and evening college) Minimester 73, History 4--: The History of Feminism, Rivers b) Extent of departmental willingness to offer courses. c) Extent of faculty willingness to prepare courses without released time. d) Curriculum procedures for regular courses and interdisciplinary courses; department procedures vary; there is also the Experiemental classification to consider. e) Kinds and levels of courses: is there a need for lower division, more general introductory courses before the upper division, more specialized courses? f) Relationship to Continuing Education programs; especially relevant to Evening College. g) Means of evaluating success of courses: faculty observation, discussion, workshops, etc. h) Possibility of guest lecturers in classes and as special events. 3. Resubmission of grant proposal: a) to NEH as Project grant: essentially our current proposal reduced in scope; $30,000 for one year. b) to Foundations: would require considerable reworking of proposal to direct it toward innovation, novelty, community involvement; probably would lead up into Continuing Education emphasis and novel ways of involving non-College groups and types.
