October 11 , 1977 TIGERS ATTACK BOBCATS With a large homecoming crowd in the stands, the Tiger varsity football squad put it all together Saturday afternoon beating Frostburg State 20-3. The Tigers scored as soon as they got the ball and never had to worry about Frost¬ burg the rest of the afternoon. Junior fullback Rick Bi el ski enjoyed his best afternoon as a Tiger as he scored twice on runs of one and five yards. Freshman quarterback Ron Meehan picked up the other touchdown on a one yard dive. For the second week in a row though, the hero for us was Albo Butler. He is a freshman tailback and is filling in for the injured Tom Jones who has been sidelined with a separated shoulder. Butler rushed for 123 yards on 19 carries and put the team within striking distance twice. In the last two games he has picked up 192 yards and has a 4.8 average on the ground. On the afternoon we finished with 199 yards on the ground against the Bobcats. We also picked up another 126 yards in the air from Meehan. On the other side of the coin the Tiger defense limited Frostburg to 177 yards in total offense. The Bobcats penetrated to the Towson five yard line but had to settle for a 22 yard field goal and their only points of the afternoon. This Saturday Glassboro will invade Burdick Field for a 7:30 encounter. It will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. The Tigers lead the series two wins to one. Towson won last year's game 21-3. Last week the Profs bowed to Kutztown 20-16. The Profs were driving toward Kutz- town's goal line when a crucial holding penalty stopped their progress in the closing mi nutes. The Tiger secondary hasn't allowed a touchdown through the air yet this year but will get a stiff test Saturday night against Glassboro. Herb Neilio is the quarterback for the Profs and he has been airing the ball out. To be more specific, Neilio has hit on 63 of 131 attempts for 959 yards and seven touch¬ downs. From a defensive standpoint the Profs entered last week's game ranked in the top ten of Division III and third in the East. "Glassboro isn't very fancy but what they do they do well," said Tiger head coach Phil Albert. "They've got good team quickness and they're tall and rangy on defense. I know they're going to give us all we can handle." With Glassboro coming to town Saturday night the Tigers will need to be at full strength and hopefully they will be. Ray Henderson returns to offensive tackle and Tom Jones will be available at the tailback slot if he is needed. The one person who will not see action this week or the rest of the season is split end Ken Snoots. It was discovered early last week that Snoots will be out the remainder of the season with torn ligaments in his knee. Snoots, who injured the knee the first time he tried to catch the ball this season, is expected to undergo surgery this week. -over--
