Exec Board The first meeting of the SGA Executive Board will be called to order today. Time of the meeting 4:00; room 218. SIC Enriched by New Additions With the opening of the 1951 col-lege year, a multitude of new names have been added to the personal roster of State Teachers College. Heading the list is Dr. Kenneth A. Browne, the Dean of Instruc-tion. Dean Browne comes to Tow-son after holding similar positions at Illinois Wesleyan University and Deane College, Crite, Nebraska. Miss Eleanor Tibbitts has accepted the post of Registrar. She comes with a backlog of experience with this type of work having been Reg-estrar at both Kansas State College and Wells College. As supervisor of elementary stu-dent teaching, Miss Hilda Kestner will work with Dr. Lucy Scott. Miss Kestner transferred from the sixth grade of the Lida Lee Tall School. From the faculty of Wilson Teach-ers College, comes Dr. Ruth L. Smith to serve as direciar of kinder-garten primary student teaching. Before going to Wilson Teachers College, where she has been super-visor of student teaching, Dr. Smith taught for a number of years in elementary schools of the capitol city. ' Miss Mary Basler joints the ""house mothers"" as supervisor of residence halls for the women students. She will work with Misses Lee and Gerdes. Mr. Mahlon Hillerich begins his first year at State Teachers as a European history and Social Science instructor. Ph.B.�Muhlenburg Col-lege; M.A.�Columbia; graduate study�Temple and University of Pennsylvania. A new member of the science de-partment, Mr. Samson McDowell, will teach biology. He previously served as an assistant Zoology in-structor while doing graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his teaching years, Mr. Mc- Dowell pursued a business career. The Mathematics department has an additional insturctor in Dr. Fran-cis J. Mueller, who has had teach-ing experience at Loyola and Bal-timore Junior College. He did his graduate work at Johns Hopkins and earned his Master's and Ed.D. Miss Corrine Bize, who comes from the faculty of Barnard College, New York, joins the health and phy-sical education departments. Miss Bize has studied at Russell Sage College, Troy, New York; New York University; and Columbus Univer-sity. From Washington University, St. Louis, comes Miss Helen E. Brod to teach English composition and speech. Miss Brod earned both her A.B. and M.A. degrees at Washing-ton. Education A Mississippi College director of education has accepted the chair-manship of the department of edu-cation for the coming year. He is James A. Fickes, A.B., Vanderbuilt University; M.A., Ph.D., Ohio State University. Following several years of elementary and high school teach-ing he spent five years in educa-tional work in the United States Army. From across the blue waters of the Pacific comes Mrs. Genevieve M. Garretsen, who last year taught the fifth grade in Honolulu. A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Garretson will teach children's literature and courses in the elementary education block. Dr. Frank A. Mann comes to us from Temple University to teach psychology and work with Dr. Moser in the present Freshmen orienta-tion program. At New York Uni-versity he earned the A.B., MA., and Ph.D. degrees. For three years he was with the Army Air Forces training command as an instructor and education officer. He has also had considerable experience in working with in-service training of teachers. Mr. Robert W. Abendroth joins the department of education as a specialist in the teaching of reading. Following experience as an ele-mentary school teacher, he has been working for the past two years in the reading clinic laboratory school of the Temple University. Prior to study toward a doctorate at Tem-ple, Mr. Aben,dmth earned a Master of Education degree at the Univer-sity of Vermont and a B.A. at Bow-doin in Maine. Art From the Lone Star State comes Mr. Stanley M. Pollack, .who will teach in the art department of STC. His B.A. and M.A. were earned at the College of the City of New York and at Teachers College Columbia. Previously, Mr. Pollack taught in the campus laboratory school at State Teachers College, Potsdam, New York.
