This is the first college social event, it is to be informal and tra-ditionally sponsored by the TOWER LIGHT. Dean Pickens, ex-ecutive editor of the paper, is chairman of the dance and is handling decorations. Ginny Balducci will serve as re-freshment chairman and Dione Crowther will arrange for all pub-licity. Tickets which are $1.00 Per person for ""non-Towsonites"" are under the direction of Die-trich Von Schwerdtner, editor-in-chief of the paper. Favors will be distributed to all Dean Pickens, dance chairman the girls as in previous years. Last season roses were presented, however this year's favors have not been disclosed. PTA To Attend Lunch Meeting Members of the Towson Future Teachers of America will attend the luncheon and business meet-ing of the Maryland Future Teach-ers Saturday, October 18 at Notre bame College. FTA now has 163 members Which is an increase of 25% over last year according to Maggie Dix, President. Other officers who are working With Maggie are Dick McCall, 'lee-president, Katie Bishop, sec-retary; and Pat Ogden, treasurer. In accordance with the Director Of Admissions, Dr. Rebecca Tan-sil, the Future Teachers will spon-sor High School visiting day No-vember 7 and 10. High Schools throughout Maryland will be rep-resented on campus those two Music for the event will be provided by the Deans of Rhy-thm. This orchestra played at both the Christmas Dance and the Autumn Whirl last season. Decorations include the red, green, and yellow color scheme along with authentic leaves, corn stalks, and a scare crow. Bc(4,1 Queen to Highlight Homecoming Day Homecoming Day, November 1, will be highlighted this year by a Homecoming Queen. She will be elected by the student body from nominations made by cam-pus organizations and classes. Through use of the ballot at the bottom of this page, students may cast their vote for queen. In the morning, other colleges Teachers Association Hold Eighty-fifth Convention Maryland State Teachers Association will hold its eighty-fifth annual convention at the Fifth Regiment Armory, October 16, 17, 18. Doctor Earl Hawkins is president of the Maryland Teachers As-sociation and will welcome teachers from all parts of the state to one of the largest meetings in the country. The expected attendance is 12,000. Glen Players First Production To be Directed by Mr. Fallon Antigone, the present produc-tion of the Glen Players is now taking shape under the direction of Mr. Richard D. Fallon. A large group turned out for casting, which extended over a three day period, indicating much interest and enthusiasm for the play. Re-hearsals for the play began Mon-day, September 29. Members of the cast are Vir-ginia Cosgrove, in the title role; J. R. Liston, portraying Creon; Bill Ellis as Chorus; Joyce Wal-ger as Ismene; Joe Winters as Haermon; Bill Harne as the first guard. Carolyn Weil portrays the nurse; Sam Oberholtzer, the mes-senger; Harry Baernestein, the second guard; Bob McGinnis, the third guard and Anita Gorn has the role of Eurydice. Back stage workers are Bob Gist and Anita Gorn, prompters; Scot-ty Maxwell and Bob McGinnis, stage managers; Hallie Odgers, scene designer; Tom Jones, Bill Jenkins and Bud Cornell, super-vising the lighting. Antigone is a modern version of the Greek legend and is done in modern dress, with the use of ev-ery day colloquial speech. It was first written in French by Jean Anouilh and was later translated into English by Lewis Galantiere. In 1946 this production had a long run and proved a great success on Broadway with Katherine Cornell as Antigone and Sir Cedric Hard-wick as Creon. Ginny Cosgrove, appearing in 'Antigone' Towson will be represented by third and fourth year students as well as faculty members. Mayor Thomas DAlesandro, Jr. and Governor Theodore McKeldin will be at the convention to greet the Maryland teachers. A few of the other speakers include Dr. Willard E. Goshin, Dean of George Peabody College for meachers, 'Nashville, Tennessee; Dr. William G. Carr, Executive Secretary of the National Educa-tion Association and Waurine Walker, former Chairman of NEA Commission on Teacher Education and Professional Standards. Stu-art Chase, an internationally known author and lecturer, will also be a guest. Besides the information gained from the various speeches, teach-ers will find continuous demon-strations and over two hundred major educational exhibitions with numerous ideas and materi-als. Entertainment will be pre-sented by the All Maryland High School Orchestra, Band and Chor-us. Dinner and an informal dance at the Blue Room of the Alcazar and ""Lobby Sings"" at the Lord Baltimore Hotel will conclude the convention. have been invited to compete against members of the WAA in archery, and this will be followed by a special demonstration of archery skills. Following lunch, there will be a parade of the organizations and classes led by the Homecoming Queen. This will be followed by a soccer game with Loyola Col-lege. Then after supper, there will be choral singing with the Glee Club in the foyer. The play, Antigone, will be presented by the Glen Players. Tentative plans all being made for competitive dec-orations of the dormitories. Council Elects Class Officers Electing temporary officers foi the class of '56 was the main item on the agenda for the Freshman Executive Council which met Sep-tember 30, with Dr. Harold Moser presiding. Jack Harren, elected temporary president, graduated from Ken-wood High School. He was presi-dent of his Senior Class and the Student Court. At Towson he is an active member of the soccer team. Phyllis Burke, who graduated from Milford Mill High School will serve as first semester vice presi-dent. In high school she was pres-ident of the Dramatics Club and of the Future Teacher's Club. Writing the minutes of the Council meetings will be Nancy Green's responsibility. At Dun-dalk High School, Nancy held the position of secretary of her Jun-ior Class, of the Dramatics Club, and of the Student Court. Permanent officers of the Freshman Class will be elected at the beginning of the second sem-ester.
