Miss Orantas joined Tower Light as a sports writer and gen-eral reporter in her freshman year and was appointed News Editor for the first semester of this year, before moving up to the Managing post when TL changed editorial reins at mid-semester. She is a 19-year old native of Lithuania and now resides in Forest Hill, near Bel Air. A 1961 graduate of Baltimore's Catholic High, she was active on the high school's paper. Becker, a 1960 graduate of Towson High School, lives in Loch Raven Village. He has gotten his newspaper experi-ence working with Tower Light during the past year. He is also the editor of the Gold and White which is in planning. Miss Nadolny, a 19-year old Baltimorean, came to Towson from Patterson Park High School. She has had a column in the east Baltimore community paper, ""The Baltimore Guide"", (Continued on page 4) Freshman Wins Driving Award Donald Homberg, freshman math major here at Towson, re-ceived the annual Safe Driving Award, Saturday, May 4 at Memorial Stadium. A trophy was presented to Homberg by the vice president of the Junior As-sociation of Commerce. The association's annual Safe Driving Contest is open to driv-ers between the ages of 16 and 18 in the state of Maryland. Homberg took a written test and a driving test award. To-gether the tests were worth 400 points; Homberg received 345 of these points to win. May 10, 1963 Reuling, Wiseman, Lewis Elected William Reuling College Band Will Present Pops Concert The College Concert Band will present a pops concert, spon-sored by the Student Centre Board, in Glen Esk Sunday, May 12, 3 p.m. Directly following the concert the SCB is planning a hoote-nanny, an informal folk singing session. ""Bring blankets for sitting on the ground, picnic lunches, guitars, and voices,"" Miss Jo Anne Cicero, president of the SCB, advised. The concert features numbers directed by eight student con-ductors, all of whom are music majors. Among the performers will be Benjamin Glover, faculty dir-ector of the band, Alex Martin, Pat Klevenow, Mike Viciari and Janet Van Ingli. Glee Club To Feature Penny Leka Towson's Men's Glee Club, under the direction of Martin Rice will present its second an-nual Patio Concert Tuesday, May 14, 8 p.m. on the patio outside of the Student Centre. Japanese lanterns, check-ered tablecloths, and free cokes, provided by the Stu-dent Centre Board, will give a festive atmosphere to the concert. Obtaining the top positions were William Heuling, Rich-ard Wiseman, and Orville Lewis, who were elected presidents of the Classes of '64. '65, and '66 respectively. Officers of the Class of '64 who were elected are as folows: re-cording secretary, Shirley Smith; treasurer, Pat Keane and par-liamentarian Nancy Crowley. The social chair/man for the dorms is Janet Grantland; day social chairman is Barbara Gor-don. Publicity chairman is Sue Miller and senator for the class is Mary Urbanczyk. On the Student Centre Board are Mary Ament, dorms, Janet Zirkler, day. The class historian is Anne Frere. Corresponding secretary will be appointed. Other offices of the Class of '65 to be Bermuda Ball Van Dykes, Set Tomorrow The ""Bermuda Ball"" featuring the Van Dykes Orchestra and sponsored by the sophomore class, is set for tomorrow, Satur-day, May 11 from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. in Wiedefeld gymnasium. Tickets are still on sale in the Stephen's Hall alcove to-day. Students wil be ad-mitted free, while guests must pay $1. ""Only 1000 tickets will be sold, since the gym will only hold that many people,"" Miss Bonnie Merkel, social chairman of the class of '65, stated. ""No tickets wil be sold at the dance,"" she announced further. ""As the name of the dance implies, bermudas may be worn and since the dance will be held in the gym. sneakers are a must,"" Miss Merkel continued.
