tl19640501-000 "11 'Merry-Go-May' Weekend Begins 8:30 This Evening Tonight marks the beginning of the 1964 version of Towson's traditional May Weekend. The festivities will be initiated in the gym at 8:30 p.m. with a jam session sponsored by the Student Centre Board. Music for the jam session will be pro-vided by a local band and intro-duces the Weekend theme ""Merry-Go-May."" ""Merry-Go-May"" is not only a theme, it is a state of mind and activity which will guide the fun, Miss Sharon Austin, SGA Social Chairman, explained. ""May Day itself will be an experiment. I hope it will be more active and more visual� More entertaining for the Public to see�than. past May �aYs, ""Miss Austin emphatically exclaimed. The social chairman has Shortened the field down which the Queen, Lou Elin Alder, and Court must walk to reach the throne by one-half. This change was made to hasten the pro-eesional in order to have time for merryment and to ease the Queen and Court in the task of walking on the grass in high heels. The College Concert Band un-der the direction of David Roberts, will provide the proces-sional and recessional music and perform the ""Prelude to the Stu-dent Prince"" for the Queen's pleasure. Along the music lines, both the Women's and Men's Glee Clubs will render three selec-tions as their donation to the festivities. New this year will be a tumbling exhibition staged by the Physical Education majors. The danre section of the same group will add a waltz demon-stration to pre-taped music to the ceremonies. Naturally no May Day would be complete without the always enjoyabe Modern Dance Club and this year is no exception. The group will be in full force to add to everyones pleasure. The new hours are; Monday thru Friday-8 A.M. to 4 P.M., 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.; Sat-urday- 8 A.M. to 12 P.M., 6 P.M.; Sunday � 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. A student will be on duty in the Health Center Saturday from 1 to 6 P.M. for referral of cases. May 1, 1964 Dean Moser Releases Major Study Survey Dean Moser has released the rrsults of a survey made to determine the number of Tow-son students who have selected majors. The tabulation was compiled after students made their choices on Major Day, March 24. The number of students who have indicated their majors to-tals 2007, with 228 in the Arts and Sciences Program and 1779 in the Teachers College.
