Hmmm. Senate SGA Senate will hold its next regular meeting at 3:30 p.m., March 26, 1968 in Linthicum 200. Safety Plan Includes Fire Bell Change The Security Department is organizing a complete plan for improved fire safety on. campus. The first step to be taken will be to accustom the students and the personnel to evacuating any building on campus in case of a fire, a bomb scare, or an air raid. To determine the amount of improvement necessary, Gene 'Dawson, Security Chief, held a trial fire drill. in Stephens on January 5 at 10:30 a.m. According to Dawson, 50% of the occupants evacuated the building in three minutes and thirty seconds. ""This was not too bad a time,"" he remarked, ""however, it took another three; (minutes for 40% to evacuate and 10% did not leave the build-ing at all."" GEO. W. RADEBAUGH & SONS Florist VA 5-4300 120 Burke Ave. SEIM 1111111.. Mariatt Punte, a secretary in the Personnel Office remarked that part of the failure lies in the similarity between the class bell and the fire bell. Some were not aware that it was a fire drill. Among those who did, many did not know which exit to use. To remedy this confusion, the fire bell will be changed and ev-acuation instructions will be framed and hung in each room. Also, trained personnel will be stadoned in the halls to di-rect students to the appropriate exits. , Dawson, in asking for student co-operation said, ""Without the backing of the student body and the administration, any plan we put intbo effect will not operate unless they participate."" Quality Diamonds 525 YORK ROAD TOWER LIGHT March 22, 1968 Kellner Continues 'Camille' Compliments (Continued from page 3) Iplore the psyche of the author 'who could have drawn so close-ly on his own experience, only to base the novel's moral on a die. The dramatic climax comes when the companion forces Du-trnas out of his reverie enough Itio 'admit he hated, not respected, his father. The story goes on, and as it reaches its conclusion at the other end of the stage, the gravediggers come to move the tomb of Camille to the ""new area."" As they open the easket for identification of the body, we and the storyteller are made to see the decayed face of the woman whose death is be-ing enacted simultaneously; he and we see together the evil of the relationship and the folly the tragedyof delusion. The interaction between the two levels of presentation is very graceful ;and highly effec-tive, making good but restrain-ed use of repeated lines and si-rmulta, neous climaxes or crises. The whole play is penetrated with an eerie quality which is best sustained in the more con-fined action; it is all but lost lin the broader scenes of the Fpf ay-within-tthe-pilay. Perhaps this was due to the fact that the adaptors stuck closely to the words of Dumas himself, ad-ding very lilttle of their own. One of the additions, spoken at the opening of the casket--""the wages of sin are death""was unfortunate, both for the ob-vious reason that it is a cliche and because it was gratuitous. But on the whole the text was first-rate. So much for the critique; now, all too briefly, for the re-view. My biggest gripe about the production is the diction there was far too much of it. Overenunciation makes any au-dience's skin crawl, and with my penchant for siting in the (front row, I was particularly bothered by it as I was by sev-eral male cast members' make-up. But I must remember that Stephens Hall Auditorium is not a theater, and the director must think about reaching the upper 'corners of the balcony. The set-ting and lighting were magni-ficent, Ospecially in view of the necessity for a unit set. Whit-ney L,eBla,n,c's black-and white set, filled will ""mirrors"" and punctuated by Camille's pink bed, was a vision. Likewise, ;Georgia Baker's costumes, gau-dy with color and made slightly etherial by putting ballet slip ,p.ers on the ladies, were ap-propriate. Performances were generally adequate for a student BY APRIL 5, 1968, ALL DRIVERS MUST SUBMIT THEIR NEW 1968 MARYLAND LICENSE NUM-BERS FOR THEIR VEHICLES TO THE SE-CURITY OFFICE. Campus Journal Bound for White House Without raising picket signs or voices some students at Tow-son State College are question-ing the nation's role in interna-tional problems. The vehicle for their expres-oion is The Journal of Interna-tional Affairs, a student publi-cation containing articles on foreign policy. The new magazine states that ""reasoned analysis of interna-tional problems will have a more profound effect on the study of international affairs than the passionate, partisan, and emotionally charged out-bursts which have lately per-meated American campuses."" The staff plans to mail its latest issue to the White House. The current number contains 'articles on ""The Yalta Confer-ence: Appeasement OT Realpol-itik,"" by Virginia A. Gardner; ""The State: Its Meaning in In-ternational Law,"" by AverY Ward; ""Treaties as a Part of International Law,"" by Richard Spirko; several book reviews, and a selected bibliography.
