Coppin, Executive Director of the Board of Trustees for the Maryland state colleges recently released (t report on the ""educational program at Maryland state e�11eges with particular reference to liberal arts."" The report was compiled by Winton S. Tolles con-sultant to the Board, who gathered his information during one to two day visits to Coppin, Bowie, Salisbury, r rostburg and Towson. According to Tolles there is a general trend to in- 'cirporate the liberal arts program into all the Maryland sttate colleges, and that Bowie and Coppin will soon Tollow the example set by Towson, Frostburg, and Sans- 1311rY. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Centre, the concert is open to the public without charge and is being held in conjunction with the opening of art exhibits there by Dr. Mildred Zindler and Miss Beverly R. Block. Miss Barbara Slack. soprano, will present ""A Thought Like Music,"" Brahms; ""Sappric Ode,"" Brahms; and ""Man is For the Woman Made,"" Purcell. Donald Chen, French hornist, vil perform ""Concerto No. 3 For Horn,"" Mozart. Mrs. Esther Coulange will accompany Miss Slack and Miss Susan Fine will accompany M m . Cohen. Dr. John B. Mitchell Frosh Dance Date Changed On April 11 the Freshman Class will sponsor its dance. Spring Thaw. The dance had originally been scheduled for Nlarch 11 but was postponed due to the Glen Players pro-duction of ""Heartbreak House."" Mitchell Nabs Purchase Award For Print ""Mrs. Clean Meets the Green Giant (In Technicolor),"" an intaglio print by Dr. John Mitchell, chairman of the art department at Towson State College is one of four purchase award winners at the Fifth National Print Exhibition, New Canaan, Connecticut. The show, which continues through April 2, also includes his intaglio print, ""King Kong Meets the Atomic Bomb."" The Silvermine Guild Purchase Awards for the show were selected by A. 11 yat t Mayor. curator of prints at the Metropolitan Museum of .krt. and Gabor Peterdi. co-director of the show. The prints purchased become part of the Silver-mine Guild Collection avail-able as study materials for t he Silvermine College of .Art and Guild graphic artists. Dr. Mitchell also teaches a class in printmaking at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Towson Talkers Tally Triumph Over Temple Towson State College placed second in both the novice and varsity divisions at last week's Cumberland Valley debate tour-ament held at Shippensburg State College, Pennsylvania. Both the novice team of John Eustace and Richard Moss, and the varsity team of Robert Friedemberg and Michael Gordon, finished with 3-1 records. Both Towson teams were de-feated by Bridgewater College, of Virginia. Miss Eustace and Moss defeated host Shipens-burg twice, while arguing both sides of this year's national topic, Resolved; That the Federal Government should Guarentee an Opportunity for Higher Education to All Quali-fied High School Graduates. Miss Eustace and Moss scored their third victory by defeating Elizabethtown College crf New Jersey. Fredenberg and Gordon scored their three victories at the expense of Shippensburg, Messiah College of Lebonan Pennsylvania, and Temple Uni-versity of Philadelphia. This was the first tournament out-side the strong Washington- Baltimore debate region in which Towson has competed.
