Towson will be part of Limon's annual coast-to-coast concert tour. In addition to this tour, Limon teaches dance classes at his own school in New York and at the Julliard School of Dance; regu-larly performs with his company with leading U.S. orchestras in South America; and lectures in col-leges and universities throughout the U.S A. Cheered on by a crowd of about 200, the fa-culty handed a defeat to the student team. The total earnings for this activity was fifty-three dollars. Tuesday night saw a great deal of activity in the Student Centre when final bids for dates from cave ex-ploring to shows at Ford's Theatre totaled fifty-five dollars and fifty-five cents. During the intermission Mr. Gerhard Elston, regional sec-retary of World University Service, spoke on the work of W.U.S. throughout the world and on the particular needs and problems of India. There was a great deal of excite-ment and competition on the middle level of Stephens Hall as students and faculty alike placed their pen-nies and loose change on strips of tape during the Penny Walk Wed-nesday. The Freshmen Class had the greatest contribution. placing first with $39.21. Following the Freshmen were the Sophomores ($25.17), the Seniors ($17.73), the Juniors ($8.63) and the Faculty ($6.78). The grand total collected by the Penny Walk was ninety-seven dollars and fifty-two cents. Wednesday night's Faculty Talent Show and Glen Players Production netted a total of twenty-two dol-lars and fifty cents. The Faculty Auction resulted in a total of two hundred forty-seven dollars and eighty-two cents. Dr. Hartley of the Education Depart-ment auctioned off items ranging from dinner at an instructor's home to a cruise on a yacht. I The week's events were climaxed , (Continued on Page 4. Col. 1) Towson Alumni, Is A Dynamic Organization The alumni of Towson State Teach-ers College have continually taken an active interest in Towson stud-ents. Recently the class of 1910 con-tributed $50.00 for speech books, and various classes have given money annually for the student loan fund. It is interesting to note that as of June 1960, the Fund has a balance of $11,217.00. Many outstanding alumni of Tow-son State Teachers College have been the recipients of an alumni award for recognition of outstanding achievement in their chosen fields. Only living alumni are eligible, and they shall have had to make signi-ficant contributions benefiting the community, state. or nation. The award which consists of an appro-priate certificate and pin, is made annually at the alumni banquet. Some of the famous recipients have been Dr. Lillian Compton, re-tired President of Frostburg State , Teachers College, Dr. Harry Bard, Dean of the Baltimore Junior Col-lege. Dr. Mary Theresa Wiedefeld, former President of Towson State Teachers College, Dr. John H. Fish-er. former Superintendent of schools of Baltimore City and now Dean of the Teachers College of Colusnbia University. and Dr. Lsaciore Turk, Supervisor of the Maryland State Commission of Health. The presentation of alumni awards which began in 1958, have been limited to no more than five awards a year. A plaque will be provided at the State Teachers College at Towson on which the names of award winenrs will be placed from year to year.
