Skip Johns, Shirley BOB HIGHSMITH Bob Highsmith, candidate for SGA vice presidency, is at present the Sophomore Class president. Bob is also a member of the Special Events Committee, Circle K, Men's Chorus, and Faculty Advisory Committee. Some of Bob's class activities include: the class play staff; class dance; Homecoming float. In his freshman year, Bob was the Publicity chairman of his class and helped on the play and dance. To aid Towson students in voting wisely ""Tower Light"" is printing the qualifications of the nominees. Campaign platforms of the three presidential candidates are in-cluded for students who were unable to attend Thursday's presentation assembly. JOE GLASS ""My platform expounds imagina-tion, initiative and action in order to stimulate and improve students' intellectual social, physical and c-alturul welfare,' explained Joe Glass at Thursday's presentation assembly. Specific programs listed in Joe's platform include a modern and democratic structure of government which will represent the student body and promote leadership train-ing, creation of co-curricular activi-ties which may add to the educa-tional process, contribution of sug-gestions and criticism of the college curriculum, improvement of library facilities, evaluation of the facutly as concerns the effectiveness of their teaching contest and methods, de-finition and solving of the problems relating to acaremic freedom, work to improve the quality of our school by establishing and maintaining programs which recognize outstand- (Cont. RECORDING SECRETARY CAROLE l'ARKER Carol Parker is presently a mem-ber of the Naturalist Club and was also a member of the Freshman Executive Council. In high school she was corres-ponding secretary of the Future Teachers of America, student council liason officer and third vice president of the PTSA. TREASURER DON GRAHAM Don Graham, candidate for Treas-urer of the SGA, is at present an SGA Member-at-Large and work-ing as assistant to the Treasurer in this capacity. Don is the MRC Athletic Director, MAA treasurer, FAC member, Men's Chorus mem-ber, and member of the Circle K. JOAN TRACEY joan Tracey is presently secretary of the Newell-Richmond House Council, a Sophomore Class Sen-ator, member of the Academic Affairs and Publicity Committees of the SGA and a member of the FAC. She is also active in class affairs helping in the WUS Week auction, the Sophomore Class assembly, homecoming, and is past vice-president of her class. PARLIAMENTARIAN WALLACE WARD Wallace Ward, candidate for Parlimentarian of SGA, served as P:'rlimentarian of the Class of '62 in 1960, and at present is on the Board of Directors for the Circle K, and Treasurer of FAC. SGA PRESIDENT JAMES ""SKIP"" JOHNS ""It is time that we had a realistic approach to student government, activities and the proper relation-ship between students and the ad-ministration,"" explained James ""Skip"" Johns. In choosing to run for the office of SGA president, Skip proposes to establish the proper relationship between the students and the administration. ""Students are people first, stud-ents second, and future teachers third,"" he added. Among his activities at Towson, Skip lists the Tower Echoes staff, iormer Editorial Editor of the Tower Light, Glen Players, the Curriculum Committee, goalie on the lacrosse team, and the photography club. Skip is an English major and member of the Junior Class. He is 26 years old and is a First Lieutenant in his reserve commission in the United States Army. In his senior year of high school he was president of his class. JOHN TALLMAN ""If elected president of the SGA I will seek the reestablishment of a sense of direction and an expan-sion of our potential,"" stated John Tallman at Thursday's presentation assembly. Among the points which John lists in his platform are the clarification of SGA Executive Committee and Senatorial position and policy, a meeting with the presidents of the campus organizations to discuss their goals and achievements and to clarify the position of the Senate, a talent file which will list activi-ties in which a student participated in high school and his prefernces for activities in college, and a policy for club membership. John also desires to see a finan-cial policy set on student-attended conferences which are financed by SGA funds, a classification of the Student-Faculty committees, a foreign student on campus if there is enough interest in this project, (Cont. Page 2) SOCIAL CHAIRMAN BARBARA McKELVY Barbara McKelvy has served as assistants Social Chairman during the academic year of 1960-1961. She has also been a Senator for two years. She was chairman of the Class of '62's Homecoming Float for 1960, co-chairman of the May Day Con-cession for 1960 and co-chairman of the 1961 Sweetheart Dance. Barbara has been a member of the hostess Club in her freshman, sophomore and junior years and is an officer this year. YVONNE BARBOSA Yvonne Barbosa has been a mem-ber of the Cheerleaders for two years. She has served as publicity chairman and Senate alternate for this organization. The Freshman Advisory Council, the Resident Constitution Revision Committee and the Young Demo-crats Club are organizations of which Yvonne is a member. She also participates in athletics. was a member of the basketball team and helped with Spook Week Activi-ties. MEMBER-AT-LARGE CHUCK RITTER Chuck Rittler has been a member of the Men's Chorus for two years and served as librarian for this group. He is a Senator for the Junior Class and a member of the Junior Executive Council. Chuck is also a member of the Newman Club, Alpha Phi Omega, FAC and Gamma Theta Upsilon. JEANETTE MORGAN Jeanette Morgan is a member of the Junior Class and participates in her class activities. She is a Senator for the Lutheran Students Association, and secretary of the Judicial Committee of the Senate. She is presently student teaching. MARY ROSE BELSINGER Junior Mary Rose 13elsinger is treasurer of the Glen Players and also is active in Alpha Psi Omega, honorary dramatics fraternity. Mary also participates in class activities and is presently enrolled in the secondary education program. LOU WINKLEMAN Lou 'Winkleman is a transfer student from Johns Hopkins. He is a member of the Young Demo-ctats, sports writer for Tower Light and expresses an interest in the Glen Players. in the fall Lou was forward on tile soccer team. He is also an aspiring author, and had an article printed in Reader's Digest some time ago."
