In Fall Address, president lists 75 'action items' to focus University resources Brian Stelter The Towerlight Expanding on the vision he outlined in Fall 2003, President Robert Caret unveiled a draft of 75 specific actions Wednesday that he plans for the University to implement this school year. """"We need a roadmap that can help us move from where we are to where we need to be, where we want to be in the years ahead,"""" Caret told an audience of faculty and staff members Wednesday afternoon. """"In order to do that effectively we will need to stay the course and be very focused on the goals we set."""" Caret's Fall Address, held in the Stephens Hall Theatre, was titled """"Towson University 2010."""" The 25 broad goals and 75 """"action items"""" he offered were in draft form. The campus community will have one month to offer feedback on the items before the list is revised and finalized. The action items expand on the five themes Caret introduced last year. The themes were enrollment management, growth and mix; student experience and success; partnership philosophy; resources for success; and telling and selling the story. """"I asked each vice president to come up with a list of action items,"""" Caret explained after his speech. The list of suggestions, originally several hundred items long, was trimmed down over the summer. Provost James Brennan introduced Caret by noting the school's new leadership. See PRESIDENT, page 9 Twista performance in jeopardy after accident Mike Vandermause The Towerlight With less than 48 hours before doors open, the 92Q End of Summer Jam concert, at the Towson Center, has been marred by confusion and controversy. Concert headliner Twista's tour bus crashed early Monday morning, injuring the rapper and killing one of his security guards, 30-year- old Arthur Dixon. """"His tour bus driver ran over the median, and the bus flipped,"""" David Hamburg, the Campus Activities Board Concert Chair, said. """"One of his security people died. [Twista] and I think five other people got out with minor injuries. The rapper was reportedly on his way from Syracuse, NY. to Chicago when the bus flipped near Erie, Pa. around 4 a.m. Erie County District Attorney Brad Folk was quoted by the Associate Press saying, """"It's a miracle that any of them survived because all of them, except for the driver, were ejected onto the median strip."""" But according to Twista's publicist, Evette Fergerson of The Courtney Barnes Group, Twista is doing better although he did sustain a few minor injuries. There is no definite word so far as to whether or not Twista will be canceling his set for this weekend.
