Towson ended Homecoming week
on a high note, producing 430 yards
of offense en route to a 42-17 victory
over the Colgate Raiders in front of an
announced crowd of 9,919 at Johnny
Unitas Stadium.
Colgate (1-3, 0-1 Patriot League)
established their run game early and
pounded the ball down the field to
score on their opening drive. The
Raiders took more than eight minutes
off the clock with a 17-play drive.
Zauhn Lewis rushed seven times for
42 yards on the opening drive. But it
was a 40-yard field goal by Joe Uglietto
that gave Colgate a 3-0 lead that lasted
until the second quarter.
"We came out a little slow, and
things weren’t clicking like we want¬
ed," quarterback Grant Enders said.
“We stuck with it, stuck with the game
plan, and eventually we started exe¬
cuting and we were moving the ball.”
Towson (3-0, 1-0 CAA) struck
early in the second quarter and never
looked back, finishing a 78-yard drive
that gave them a 7-3 lead.
The Tigers came out of the locker
room after halftime and appeared
recharged both offensively and defen¬
sively, playing with a spark that lacked
at times in the first half. In the third
quarter alone, the Tigers put together
three touchdown drives and forced
two turnovers. Towson scored 35
straight points in the second half and
did not allow a Colgate touchdown
until the fourth quarter.
"Coming off a bye [week] period is
not an easy thing to do," Head Coach
Rob Ambrose said. "Getting back into
the rhythm of what we do, how we do,
it usually starts off slower. I knew that
was going to happen. It didn't stop
me from being ridiculously frustrated
by it, but I knew that was going to
happen.

Towson’s freshman running back Terrance West rushes past Colgate defenders to his third TD of the game. West ran 13 times for 85 total yards,
running for 85 yards and three touch¬
downs on only 13 carries.
“I just go out there and do my
thing,” West said. "It doesn't matter
if I start or not, second string or third.
When I get on the field, I just do my
part."
Dominique Booker also contribut¬
ed to the Tigers rushing attack that
racked up 251 yards, by adding 71
yards and a 43-yard touchdown rush.
Towson’s defense let up their first
rushing touchdown of the season
when Lewis scored on a four-yard rush
at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
But by then, the game was far out of
Colgate’s reach.
“As Coach [Matt Hachmann]
always says, ‘bend, don’t break’,”
junior linebacker Alexander DiSanzo
said. "That’s where our defense prides
itself: not letting anyone get in the
end zone."
