The ceremony, which will include eeches fr6m the governor and speeches Sandy Unitas, is scheduled for half-time of the Homecoming football game. In order to make way for the ceremony, traditional halftime fare such the band's performance and Homecoming awards will be pared down and moved to before and after the game. While the ceremony marks one an event in TU history, for the marching band it means missing its biggest halftime performance in front of what could be a sell-out crowd. Head drum major Gary Williams said moving the band's perform-ance from halftime takes away from Homecoming for students and alumni. If we get bumped, that's one of the few traditions we have at Towson. It's one thing to dedicate the stadium, but to bump every-thing else Homecoming is is pretty absurd in my opinion,"" Williams said. ""Homecoming is for the stu-dents, not for the stadium thing,"" he added. Jeff Dudley, director of major gifts, said he understands the band members' feelings. However, he said he worked with members from student activities, the athletics department and band director Jeff Au early this summer to plan for the ceremony.
