In their own record-setting performance, the Tiger defense held the Leopards to 219 total yards of offense and intercepted quarterback Brian Buzcek five times, tying the school record. Senior tailback Jason Corle had his hands in two other school records, surpassing cur-rent Baltimore Raven Tony Vinson, '94, in career rushing yards and tying Brian McCarty, '94, for career touchdowns. Corle ran for 135 yards, eclipsing Vinson's school-record of 3,058 yards by five yards, and hauled in four passes for 42 yards. He ran for one touch-down and caught another to tie McCarty at 34. Towson's defense scored twice off six Lafayette turnovers and racked up more than 100 return yards on the five inter-ceptions. Senior safety Jabari Garrett and junior Ricky Crestwell picked off four of the five balls thrown by Buczek, with freshman defensive back Edmund Carazzo grabbing the other. ""When we practiced, coach said he wanted us to be disci-plined,"" Crestwell said. ""If everybody takes care of their responsibilities, the individual accolades will come."" Towson's defense forced two fumbles, one of which was run in for a touchdown, capping off a 35-point effort. Aside from Conies perform-ance, senior quarterback Joe Lee had a solid game as well, hook-ing up with Code on a 21-yard See DEFENSE, page 18 Megan DeNarrn The Towerhght Junior wide receiver Adam Overbey breaks away for 54-yard touchdown against Lafayette Saturday. Corle breaks career rushing record Super senior passes Vinson 's mark by five yards with 135-yard Patrick Stoetzer The Towerlight With less than 13 minutes remaining in Saturday's football game against Lafayette, Jason Corle gave the Towson football fans something more to cheer about. Not that watching the Tigers (2- 0) roll on their way to a 35-7 rout of the Leopards wasn't enough. But Corle, who finished the day with 135 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns, knew that a certain record was ready to be broken. Corle became the school's all-time leading rusher, passing the Baltimore Ravens' Tony Vinson's ('94) previous mark of 3,058 yards. With two touch-downs in the game, he also tied Brian McCarty's ('94) career touchdown record of 34. The senior tailback said break-ing the record at home and get-ting a win in the process made it all the more sweet. ""I had told [Head Coach Gordy Combs], 'yeah I want to get this here,' "" Corle said. ""I didn't want to go up to Bucknell and get a couple yards and that would be it. I wanted to get it here."" Corle praised his offensive line, which opened holes for Corte during most of the game. Led by seniors Mike Zito and Braedon Galloway, and juniors Adam Nepp and John Tierney, Corle had plenty of room to nm See CORLE, page 18 011, .
