The original tiger statue was located on the lawn outside Cook Library, a heav-ily- trafficked area on campus. In a meeting with Towerlight editors, Caret said there is a good amount of movement at the new location as well. Caret said the location was selected because the statue would be visible to stu-dents as well as passersby on York Road. Take vulnerable babies [for example]. Katie Speirs, a senior womens studies major, responded with a dictionary definition of geno-cide. Genocide is the systematic killing of a religious, political, or cultural group. We are not forcing women to abort their babies, she said. Women are getting brutally murdered because they feel they cant have an abortion. If you think abortion should be illegal, what is your group doing? How will you educate people? The pro-life activists generally stayed in the area of the Speakers Circle, distributing literature and wearing T-shirts with the mes-sage abortion kills babies. A couple also filmed GAP by scan-ning the crowd and interviewing people from both sides of the issue. The footage was broadcast live on www.prolifenews.tv and the event is archived on the Web site.
