He went on to thank those who worked in a ""united effort"" to help the SGA, but told those who had worked against Harris tha he has lost respect for them. ""I hope you honestly understand that I am not resigning because of SGA,"" Schloer said, ""but in spite of it."" His resignation was effective immediately. ""I'd like to thank Debbie Bias for her perfect attendance record in Senate and for being the only senator who, has consistently for the past two years said not one word at a Senate meeting."" ""I'd like to thank Kathie Dunlap for her individualism and that rare ability to get to the top no matter what the cost. ""I'd like to thank Carolyn Baile, who in short has done nothing meaningful with the SGA just as she has done nothing meaningful since she left the SGA."" ""Finally, I'd like to thank Craig McGraw, who has demonstrated over the course of this year that a firm grasp on the subject and an honest and sincere motive for things which he knew nothing about. Leaving freely Harris said that he was not leaving his office under duress, although he knew about the current petitions circulating to impeach him. He stated that it would be virtually impossible to impeach him, since it would require 2100 signatures from the members of the student body, and a 2/3 vote at the next scheduled meeting of the student government which is not for another year. Harris concluded, ""I am not leaving this office under duress, I am leaving because I think we've accomplished what we wanted to do, because I can devote some time to studies, and because I'm tired of the petty politics and bullshit I've witnessed. At next Tuesday's meeting, I will officially turn the gavel over to Rick Danoff as president of the SGA."" Senator Bob Ryan said that Harris had ""done the students cine of the greatest favors of the year by resigning."" Parliamentarian Konrad Herling said ""The thing that has struck me most in my year here has not been so much the hostility between the executives and the Senate, but the lack of communication."" Leatherwood told President-to-be Danoff ""You've been placed in an awkward situation, and we don't want to make it any more awkward. We will not carry over old grudges, but we will try to work together and get something done. We see you as a new administration."" Danoff, who will take over the position of SGA president Tuesday, said, ""I regret the resignation as I would regret any resignation from elected offices. I would like to thank the senators who took the initiative to express their confidence in me, and I was very happy to see that they were willing to help and assist me in any manner they could. I sincerely hope a close working relationship can exist between the Senate, the president, and the news media."" Danoff will become Student Government president at Tuesday's Senate meeting. Harris said he would not officially turn in his resignation until then, so he could ""clean up the office and tie up loose ends."" "
