The University’s longtime house¬
keeping service will soon hang up its
mops for the last time.
Aramark, the Philadelphia-based
cleaning firm that provides Towson
University’s cleaning and janito¬

because They were underbid to a new

ing budget. ABM’s services will begin
July 1.

ABM less than they are currently
paying Aramark. The University pays
Aramark $5,781,002 annually.

they will pay ABM $3,847,111 for
its first year of service, according to

finance.
“As for the University, we expect
the same level of service at a reduced
cost," vice president and chief fiscal

James Sheehan said.

AD will not
confirm head
coach rumors
during search
DANIEL GROSS
Editor-in- Chief
Towson University director of athletics
Mike Waddell would not confirm or deny
online reports of potential candidates for
the vacant head men’s basketball coach
position as of Sunday, March 27.
There are three prominent assistant
and associate head coaches "on the
Towson radar" for the job, according
to a WNST report. University of Texas’
Russell Springmann, Xavier University's
Pat Kelsey, and Kansas State’s Dalonte
Hill are cited as targets for the Tigers.
Waddell said that there are only seven
people who are aware of his decisions
with the search, all of those being Towson
University officials.
“It’s out of respect for the people and
their teams," he said in terms of keeping
the search confidential. "That gives them
a lot of confidence that there’s a profes¬
sional search here."
Hill and Springmann are both
Maryland natives, making the Towson
position attractive in terms of location.
Ohio resident Kelsey was mentioned
because Waddell is, “obviously quite
familiar with Kelsey’s work and Xavier’s
successes," cincinnati.com Xavier
University athletics beat writer Shannon
Russell wrote. Before taking the position
of athletic director at TU, Waddell served
as the University of Cincinnati’s associ¬
ate AD.
Waddell did have positive remarks
about who the next coach will be and
what they will bring to the men’s basket¬
ball program.
“We are going to get a fantastic coach.
We’re going to get somebody that is
motivated to come in here and help
change our culture," he said. “And when
we make this announcement, the los¬
ing stops then. The losing stops then
because we are a motivated university.
Our athletics department is being chal¬
lenged to answer the call and to come out
and deliver results.”
Head coach selection
The search committee plans
to have a new head basketball
coach in about a week.
