But on Friday, Feb. 29, LaMartina, with c o - p r o d u c e r Jimmy George, will bring Book of Lore back to Towson, the first time its been shown since late October 2007. I think its exciting to show it to Towson because Towson was one of the jumping points in making the film in the first place, LaMartina said. The film, which was shot in late 2006 into 2007, went on to win ShockerFest International Horror Film Festival in Modesto, Calif. The plot revolves around a small town that is plagued by weird folk tales and local legends. When Rick Adam's girlfriend is murdered, he discovers that the book he has on local murderers may hold the clues to solving her slaying. But finding distribution rights for the film has been difficult for LaMartina and George. Distribution thats going to make you rich is nearly impossi-ble these days, LaMartina said. N o w a d a y s theres an over saturation of the market. He still regu-larly receives checks for his first film Dead Te e n a ge r s , which recently sold rights in Russia. Even if you make a good movie, its difficult to make a return on your budget, LaMartina said. Carrie Wood Assistant News Editor More than 200 students piled into University Union Paws for a night of comedy presented by 15 of their peers in Towsons Last Comic Standing, on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Campus Activities Board sponsored the event. Brandon Broady, programming chair for the event, said that CAB decided to sponsor the event fol-lowing the success of a similar com-edy competition they held last year. Broady was one of the co-winners of the event last year, tying with graduate student Chris Malone, and opened for comedian Chris Porter. Malone wondered about the con-flict the event had with the Geek Comedy Tour 3000, which was held at the same time on the third floor of the Union. I think its unfortunate. Either we took an audience from them, or they took an audience from us, Malone said. Im all about comedy and people having a good laugh. Hopefully they got a good crowd, too. Before the competition began, there was a short open mic session. However, only one student was will-ing to perform during this period. See LAUGH, page 18 "
