At a luncheon in the Miller Senate Office Building, University System of Maryland Chancellor William Kirwan was upbeat during a brief speech. """"The thing I keep saying about Towson is, this is Towson's time. The stars have aligned,"""" Kirwan said, raising his voice and smiling as the audience applauded. Kirwan added the Board of Regents is """"placing a special priority on Towson"""" as the campus grows to accommodate enrollment demands. He concluded his speech with a rousing """"Go Tigers!"""" Kirwan's comments were especially encouraging, Student Government Association President Mark Schlosser said. """"The luncheon was great - there were probably over 200 people coming in and out - lots of delegates and senators,"""" Schlosser said. A bus full of Towson students arrived in Annapolis in time for representatives to accept resolutions proclaiming """"Tiger Pride Day."""" Schlosser and USM Student Council Representative Meredith Pica accepted the resolution on the floor of the House of Delegates; fellow council member Matt Heim joined SGA Vice President Darcy Accardi to accept a similar resolution on the Senate side. The students then dispersed to their scheduled appointments with state senators and delegates. The students discussed the USM's Effectiveness & Efficiency plan, and described the Towson SGA's support of the proposals. Several proposals relate to adding capacity and ensuring graduation in four years. """"We need to keep students moving,"""" DeBoy agreed. See LOBBYISTS, page 6 Police search for rape suspect near campus Mike Fila The Towerlight A 21-year-old female Towson University student was sexually assaulted and raped in her apartment at the Fairways apartment complex early Tuesday morning. An unknown man entered the woman's apartment at 5 a.m. She was asleep in her bedroom at the time of the assault. """"She did not allow him into her apartment,"""" Baltimore County Police Spokesman Bill Toohey said. He said he could not divulge many specific details about the case. Police have yet to release any details about the suspect. """"We have not recovered any """"I'm really scared. Some of my [soccer] teammates live right across the street from where it happened.""""
