""We go through life and sometimes we see movies See CRUISE, page 14 Perkins announces TU's new senior vice president and chieffiscal officer Carrie Oleynik The Towerlight When a fire destroyed 200,000 square feet in a Longwood College residence hall in Virginia last spring, David Franklin Harnage led efforts to secure safe housing for stu-dents. University President Dr. Mark L. Perkins describes Towson's new vice president and chief fiscal officer as bring-ing Longwood back in business. ""So, we know he's good in crisis, but we also know that he's good in long term planning and solving complex budget solutions,"" Perkins said. Harnage, former executive vice president of administration and finance at Longwood College, was introduced and welcomed by Perkins and the University community Monday in the Chesapeake Rooms. ""I knew Towson was a spe-dal place the very first time I visited the campus,"" Harnage said. ""Towson, especially, has a commitment to students in learning."" The University conducted a confidential search, during which 76 applications were reviewed. As the candidates were narrowed down, the University search committee stumbled upon Harnage's name in references over and over again. Maravene Loeschke, chair of the search committee and dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication, said the com-mittee contacted every national organization across the country, located the names of likely can-didates and called them to encourage them to apply.
