The investigation is expected to be completed before December 15. College officials said that the criminal investigation being conducted by the State's Attorney's Office, the Maryland State Police, and the College Security Department, is continuing and additional warrants may be forthcoming. The findings indicate that over $15,000 in undeposited gate receipts and advance ticket sales for various concerts and other entertainment events are missing from student funds. A complete audit report is expected in the next three to four weeks. The investigation of the student funds was begun two months ago when two members of the student newspaper, Towerlight, reported rumors that gate receipts from concerts were missing. The administration immediately contacted Student Government Association officials and it was agreed by both parties to initiate an investigation of the rumors. State auditors and state police were asked to begin a review of the Student Government Association financial records the following day. The preliminary report was presented Monday, November 27 by state auditors Robert Phillips and William Lambros to Cpl. Samuel Combs of the Maryland State Police; Towson State College Security Director Gene Dawson; Student Government Association President Jesse Harris; and college vice presidents Wayne N. Schelle and C. Richard Gillespie. Representatives of the Attorney General's Office and the State's Attorney's Office This week the college will present to the Board of Trustees of the State Colleges of Maryland a recommendation regarding the supervision and responsibility of the Student Government Association Funds. Presently, there is no Board policy or state regulation regarding the administration of these funds. Leatherwood turned himself into state police on the advice of his attorney. Partners need USA homes The Committee of the Young Adult Exchange Program of the Maryland Partners of the Americas is recruiting homes for young adult visitors from Maryland's sister state, Estado de Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The Brazilian group will be in Maryland from January 11 until the end of February. The purpose of the program is to allow visitors from Maryland's sister state to see America and American life styles firsthand. Members of the group range in age from 19 to 27. Most are university students or young professionals. Anyone interested in providing a host home for a member of the Brazilian group is asked to contact Justine Jones, sociology, for additional information and applications. Nominations Again this year, the Alumni Association will recognize distinguished service of alumni the presentation of the Alumni Award.
