A debate sponsored by the commission will be held April 21 in the University Union Loch Raven Room at noon. The first election commission resigned on April 15 after the SGA senate voted down an extension deadline for potential senators to submit their Intent to Run Forms. According to Priscilla Mint, coordinator of student organizations in student activities, 19 students applied for commission positions this time around. The com-mission is supposed to include seven. The previous commission only included five members because of lack of interest. We didnt have a lot of interest [last time] which makes it very interesting. The first time around we advertised for weeks and weeks and this one we adver-tised for [about] three days, Mint said. Mint said both tickets and the independent candidate were made aware of the debate but I dont necessarily know its our job to confirm theyre going to be there. At the debate held Wednesday, the Foundation ticket and independent attorney general candidate Ryan Assadi fielded questions. Team Tigertown declined to participate because an election commission did not host the event. I feel like the debate turned into, not what were going to potentially do with the SGA as candidates, [but] into a debate about the current state of the SGA, Assadi said. I think its unfair the other ticket didnt have to participate in the last debateI think its ridiculous. There are only so many questions you can ask of a candi-date, and they already experienced what more than likely is going to be asked of them. Foundation and I had to answer on the spot. [Team Tigertown has] had five days to think about the answers to these questions. Kristen Guy, who is running for president on the Team Tigertown ticket, said she doesnt believe her ticket is at an advantage. She said Wednesdays event included drama and the number of questions posed were limited. See SGA, page 11 STUDENT GOVERNMENT "
