Brian Stelter Editor in Chief Carol Vellucci, the director of Towson University�s Career Center, will become President Robert Caret�s communications assistant, Caret announced Wednesday. Vellucci will move across Cross Campus Drive from 7800 York Road to an office on the third floor of the Administration Building in May. Vellucci replaces spokesperson Susanna Craine, who left the University in November. Craine was director of com-munity relations; Starting May 3, Vellucci will be assistant to the president for com-munications. Caret said the position will fulfill four primary responsibilities: A spokesperson �when appropriate;� a writer and edi-tor for the president�s office, including �letters, speeches, Powerpoint presenta-tions;� a coordinator with the marketing arm of the campus, �to ensure that we are getting the kind of media coverage and the message we want out there;� and a facilitator for community relations. �As we met with her, she really did sell herself as the right person,� Caret said. �She knows the campus very, very well... She has the personality and drive to do the things I outlined in the job description.� Vellucci will essentially serve as Caret�s point person for public relations. Her background includes a variety of experi-ences in business and higher education, Caret�s announcement noted. �I�ve straddled both sides of the fence,� Vellucci said. She used to work at the Baltimore Business Journal as director of marketing and also served as director of external See VELLUCCI page 10 The Towerlight Rachel Frederick Staff Writer Brian Stelter Editor in Chief Next fall�s Student Government Association executive board will be composed of Vision party president Patrick Dieguez and Vital FOUR candidates David Butler, Stephanie Cox and Alyse Toulotte, the election commis-sion announced Wednesday afternoon. Monica April, a sophomore sociology major who attended the announcement, called it the �Vital Vision.� Director of Student Activities Dan Ashlock, who has been at Towson since 2000, said he couldn�t recall an executive board split in any past election. The race was close. Dieguez beat current SGA vice president and Vital FOUR presi-dential candidate McShane Murphey by 52 votes. Thirty minutes after the results were announced in the University Union Potomac Lounge, Dieguez gazed outside and took it all in. �I still can�t believe that I�m president,� he said. �Breathe. Deep breaths,� Kira Taylor, Vision�s campaign manager, joked. A few hours later, he said it was starting to sink in.
