In this year's SGA Elections, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, the incumbent Millennium party won all three executive positions and eight of the 14 senatorial positions. The Millennium party received 553 votes for their whole ticket, followed closely behind by Renaissance's 531 whole-ticket votes. Millennium presidential can-didate Ben Whitacre received 377 individual votes and a total of 930 votes to defeat the Renaissance party's Jon Sharp, who received 322 individual votes and 853 total votes. Whitacre said he was feeling a mixture of emotions when the winners were announced. ""I'm feeling a lot of excite-ment right now, and a lot of happiness,"" said Whitacre, a sophomore electronic media and film major. ""I'm happy for everyone that helped make this possible, they did a great job of going out and talking to peo-ple."" Newly-elected Vice President Melissa Scharadin said she was having trouble processing her 955-828 win over Renaissance candidate Jamie Zisow. ""I'm just very excited and ready for the comihg year, but also overwhelmed right now,"" Scharadin, who received 402 individual votes, said. ""I'm just trying to take it all in right now."" Whitacre added that he was extremely pleased with the amount of encouragement and excitement generated for his party. ""Everyone was very support-ive, that's what I was very impressed with,"" Whitacre said. ""The students supported us as well. We got a lot of people out voting and a lot of people excit-ed about elections."" After the excitement of the announcement and things began to settle down, Sharp said he was satisfied with the effort put forth by his fellow candi-dates and with the relatively close vote counts. ""I have no regrets. I put 110 percent effort out,"" Sharp said. ""We lost by only a few votes. It could have gone either way. I gave it my best shot."" Zisow, a junior English major with a concentration in second-ary education, said she is excited for the six Renaissance senators who were elected and that, just like Sharp, she has no regrets. ""I'm really happy for the peo-ple on my ticket who won,"" Zisow, who received 297 indi-vidual votes, said. ""I think that they did a great job. It's been a great experience, and I feel that I've learned a lot from it."" See MILLENNIUM, page 6 Today High 60 Low 43 Friday High 65 Low 48 Saturday High 73 Low 54 Sunday High 82 Low 56 "
