Student Representative to the CLA Diversity Committee flyer

Student Representative to the CLA Diversity Committee CLA Diversity Committee seeks a CLA student representative to attend and advise the CLA Dean and Faculty on Diversity and Inclusion issues within the college. Committee meetings occur by Zoom or In-Person the second Friday of every month from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. (Summer and mini-mester sessions not included.) The term for this position includes the remainder of the Spring 2021 semester through the academic year 2021-2022 (ending May 2022). The student representative will contribute a valuable student perspective to the Committee's discussions on assessment, strategizing, and advising the CLA Dean on issues of diversity and inclusion within the college. The student representative may participate in discussions about reports, surveys, and policies regarding programming, course development, and faculty and student recruitment and retention. The student representative will gain valuable service experience interfacing with CLA faculty, and becoming familiar with the opportunities and challenges of implementing diversity initiatives at a public education institution. The student representative will also gain the opportunity to form relationships with faculty leaders in their disciplines and in the field of institutional diversity. The ideal student candidate will share the passion for diversity leadership and the liberal arts. The student should also be capable of discretion. This would be a valuable service experience to include on a career resume. Applicants will answer a few identifying questions and three short answer questions.
