RESOLUTION 2022-2023 #17 IN THE STUDENT SENATE OF TOWSON UNIVERSITY, (December 5th 2022), A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE INCREASE OF A TOWSON RESIDENT’S GUEST LIMIT FROM THREE PEOPLE TO FIVE PEOPLE INTRODUCED ON: November 29th, 2022 INTRODUCED BY: Senator McGuire COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: SENATE ACTION: ENACT UPON APPROVAL. Jordan A. Colquitt, President — Student Government Association RESOLUTION: A policy concerning the increase of a Towson Resident’s Guest Limit from three (3) people to five (5) people. WHEREAS, Towson University offers 18 residence halls that represent an eclectic mix of old and new architecture. The buildings range from cozy two- and three-story halls to high-rise towers to apartment communities, and Towson University Department of Housing & Residence Life opens the door to student success and personal growth by cultivating safe, inclusive, and engaging communities at Towson University. WHEREAS, In Fall 2019, Towson University Department of Housing & Residence Life pre-COVID policy for guests were the allowance of five (5) people per Towson residence. All guests (anyone that does not live in that building), must be signed in at the CC desk with a valid photo ID. Housing & Residence Life does not accept any form of digital ID, including but not limited to photos and scanned images of IDs or the official State of Maryland digital ID. The ID must be physically present to be used for guest sign in. WHEREAS, During Fall 2022 semester, Housing & Residence Life post-COVID policy for guests were the allowance of three (3) people per Towson residence. However, during Family Weekend 2022, the guest sign in limit for residential students will be the guest sign in limit for residential students will be temporarily increased from three guests to five guests. WHEREAS, Towson University is no longer mandated campus with regards to COVID-1 9/Masking Policies, however personal health practices are encouraged to help keep the TU community safe. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Student Senate of the 102nd Administration of the Student Government Association at Towson University favors a policy concerning the increase of a Towson Resident’s Guest Limit from three (3) people to five (5) people. THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Student Senate recommends the increased policy to the University Residency Government and Housing & Residency Life.
