September 17, 1968 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE -- SEPTEMBER 17, 1968 The meeting was called to order by President Wacks at 3:30 p.m. in the SGA office. Miss Houlden, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Haupt were also present. Miss Pryor has volunteered to set up the office schedule. Mr. Wacks asked that everyone give his schedule to Miss Pryor and he also requested that everyone spend most of their free time in the office. Mr. Wacks announced that we would like to have a weekly column from the SGA in the Tower Light. Mr. Wacks announced that he spoke to many professors in the History Department about our free college which will replace the leader- chip conference this year. Next week a co-ordinator should be appointed. Mr. Miskelly announced that yesterday he spoke to Dr. Cortelyou about evaluation. Course evaluation must be out by the first week of November. Mr. Miskelly announced that he has another meeting with Dr. Cortelyou again tomorrow. The results of the evaluation will be sent to the faculty before they are dis- tributed to the student body. Dr. Cortelyou also suggested that the SGA have student polls to determine the opiniion of the student body on certain topics. Mr. Miskelly is also working on the Freshman Steering Committee. Mr. Taylor, President of CUB, announced that the policies for the college board have been established. Activity committees are being worked o also. The film series is set through November. Mail orders for tickets will be accepted this year. Mr. Johnson announced that the Judicial Section of the Constitution was dropped. Mr. Johnson suggested submitting the Judicial Section separately to Student Life. Miss Pryor suggested a campaign to change the grading system on campus. Mr. Wacks said that this is at present up to the Academic Standards Committee an if the new committee system is passed, ? will be up to the department heads. Mr. Johnson announced that the new constitution will be presented at the first Senate meeting. There will also be an NSA resolution expunging the old NSA resolution and making us a member. Miss Windell made several announcements concerning foreign students. She asked the committee whether we should allow foreign students to reapply for a second year half. The Committee felt that the fuling on re-application should be kept the same. Miss Windell also mentioned that the amount of money for books and supplies for the foreign students should be supplemented. The possibility of a discount for SGA in the book store was brought up. Miss Pizzare announced that the floor covering for Homecoming has just been ordered. The parade plans are progessing well. She hopes to have a meeting of all social chairmen about Homecoming and especially about the parade.
