School calendar preparation procedure

SCHOOL CALENDAR During the second semester of the school year, the social chairman must prepare the calendar for the forthcoming school year. It is suggested that the social chairman follow the following procedures: 1. From the members of the social committee the social chairman should assemble a group of about 5 people to work on this project. One of these should act as chairman and another as secretary (to record suggestions and difficulties). 2. This committee should a. Compose a list of all campus organizations including the name, president and box number of same. b. Prepare dittoed copes of the official college calendar which the social chairman should obtain from Dean Murphy. c. Prepare for distribution the accompanying letter and form to all organizations. 3. The social chairman should meet with Dean Murphy to clarify all the policies and procedures. Enclosed is a copy of the suggestions which the Student Life Council made this year. Look these over and decide which you like or dislike and be prepared as they will undoubtedly come up again next year. Below is a list of the policies which have been set up this year: a. No school trips or special events one week before exams. b. No social events on weeknights, Friday and Saturday only. c. Meetings Spealers Athletic events Weeknights - until 10P.M. d. Richmond Hall Parlor may be used once a year, at night, by an organization. No restrictions on daytime use. e. No one meets in West Hall. f. One group per week - Ward Hall and Prettyman Rec. Room. g. Library forum cannot be used after 10P.M. and meetings start at 7:15P.M. h. The Special Dining Room cannot be used betweeen 10 and 2:30. 4. Early in the semester, have the S.G.A. set the dates for next year's program including Homecoming, Sweetheart Dance, May Day, All College Day, and meeting dates. 5. Next arrange to meet with the class presidents and Mr. Kramer to set up other major social events for the year. 6. At this point distribute materials collected by the committee to the organizations and set up their dates in the calendar which you have made (sample included). 7. Your committee members should be divided up to contact the various organizations in person as they usually need a little prodding to get the materials in on time.
