I benefit by knowing your views. I agree with your comments about the article, and with many of your astute observations about Maryland’s political landscape. Maryland Republicans are in a strong position entering the 1998 elections, and will make a strong showing at every level of government. With respect to your comments about President Clinton, I share your views. As you know, I have been a persistent critic of President Clinton. His time in office has yielded a litany of scandals, the number and substance of which overshadow those of previous administrations. To date, six independent counsels have been appointed to investigate allegations of wrongdoing by President Clinton and officials within his administration. According to several recent polls, most Americans believe that President Clinton will be remembered more for the allegations that have dogged him during his time in office than for any specific action taken as President.
