The bill (H.R. 2122) would have: • plugged the loophole on background checks at gun shows; • kept semi-automatic guns out of the hands of juveniles; • kept juveniles who have committed violent crimes from ever possessing guns; • required safety devices (trigger locks) or secure gun storage devices on newly purchased guns. Unfortunately, some legislators did not come to Congress today to pass meaningful and significant gun safety measures. I, however, voted in favor of the bill and in favor of keeping guns out of the hands of juveniles, criminals, and the mentally ill.”
