Schurick will serve as the Congressman’s Political Director, heading up his 1998 reelection efforts and overseeing his political affairs throughout Maryland’s Second Congressional District. Congressman Ehrlich made the following statement regarding the announcement: “Paul Schurick has worked in a variety of substantive and political positions in Maryland for many years. He brings a wealth of local and state government experience and a thorough understanding of the fiscal and programmatic issues confronting the state and my district. He has worked at all levels of public service and brings a genuine commitment to helping people and building better communities. This experience is a welcome and needed addition to the Ehrlich team. “Paul also understands the regional and political landscapes of our state. I expect this expertise to help me meet my responsibilities to my district and my party.” Schurick is a resident of Anne Arundel County. Most recently, he served as the political director for Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates Casper R. Taylor, Jr. He has also served as Chief of Staff to former Governor William Donald Schaefer.
