Ehrlich, Jr. (R-2nd) today announced that the U. S. Army has selected Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland as the site of the new Northeast Civilian Personnel Operations Center, a move which will bring 247 new civilian jobs to APG. The new Center will be a consolidation of current Army installations and Civilian Personnel Offices. It will manage many civilian personnel day-to-day activities, such as recruitment, maintaining personnel files, and processing personnel actions. APG was selected from among 1 0 other Army facilities. “While I have strongly supported APG’s efforts to bring the new civilian personnel center to Harford County, the credit for this big win goes to APG itself,” Congressman Ehrlich stated. “Its outstanding workforce and long history of service to the U. S. Army were decisive. Congratulations to the men and women who make up the APG community for this latest success.” The Center will begin stand-up operations in March 1996, and is projected to be fully c operational by October 1997.
