Ehrlich, Jr. (R-2nd., MD) annouced today. The funds, which consists of a $2 million federal grant and a $1 .7 million federal loan, are part of the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Economic and Community Development program. In June 1995-in response to a written request from Harford County Executive Eileen Rehrmann-Congressman Ehrlich contacted Mr. Jack Walls, acting State Director of the Rural Economic and Community Development program, regarding this funding. At that time the Congressman secured Mr. Walls’ written assurances that the Cardiff- Whiteford project would be funded, “when FY 1996 funds become available.” Copies of both letters are attached. “I am pleased this project has at last received the level of funding it deserves,” Congressman Ehrlich stated. “Cardiff- Whiteford residents have been coping with poor and inadequate sewer systems for too long. This project will benefit them, but it will also help the environment by enhancing water quality in both the Chesapeake Bay and the Susquehanna River.”
