As you know, $6 million was cut from the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene's Addiction Treatment Services during the regular Session of the Legislature. Subsequently, at the Special Session of the Legislature, language was added to the Budget Bill that $5 million would be appropriated for Addiction Treatment Services contingent upon the increase of the tobacco tax. Although the Center is still 40% understaffed (six positions), it is coping and maintaining its heavy caseload and is hopeful the six positions will be reinstated.
