Phi Alpha Theta Lecture Series 1968 schedule

THE HISTORY ROUND TABLE: Phi Alpha Theta Lecture Series Sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta The following five lectures are scheduled for the spring semester, 1968, Coffee and refreshments will be served. Presented by members of Towson State College’s History Department, the lectures will be in the Faculty Dining Room. Students from all colleges and universities in the Baltimore area are cordially invited, Wednesday, February 28 7:16 P.M, "The Place of Freud in Intellectual History," Professor Karl Larew of the History Department will concern himself in this lecture principally with Freud as a product of his time. Thursday, March 21 300 P.M. "The British Reaction to the American Constitution." Professor Joseph Cox of the History Department will speak on the some¬ times humorous opinions of the English people concerning the new American government, Wednesday, April 3 3:30 P.M. "The Senate and Foreign Policy." The core of this lecture by Professor Mark Whitman, a former aide to Senator Joseph Tydings, will deal with the present attempt of the United States Senate to regain the power it once had in forming American foreign policy* Monday, April 22 3:00 P.M. "The U.S.S.R. Today." Professor Harry Piotrowski will talk about recent trends in Russia, while , presenting a series . of slides taken during his 1963 trip to the Soviet Union. Tuesday, May 7 300 P.M. "The Web of Guilt: Thoughts on the Destruction of European Jewry." Professor Myron Scholnick will discuss the question of complicity in the Nazi murder of the Jews. Was the entire German nation responsible? What attitudes prevailed elsewhere' in Europe? Was the Pope involved? Was President Roosevelt? Should the victims themselves be blamed? Where does the guilt stop?
