Ride
It's not my world, I grant, but I made it.
It's not my ranch, lean oak, buzzard crow,
Not my fryers, mixmaster, well-garden.
And now it's down the road and I made it.
It 's not your rackety car but you drive it.
It1s not your four-door, top-speed, white-wall tires,
Not our state, not even, I guess, our nation,
But now it's down the road, and we're in it.

HOLLY NEAR IN CONCERT
On Wednesday, April 7th, at 8 pn, contemporary
singer/songwriter Holly Near will present a
concert in Shriver Hall, Johns Hopkins University.
The event is co-sponsored by the Baltimore
chapter of NOW and the Chaplain's Office, JHU.
Near's songs focus on personal childhood experiences
on a California farm as well as on her
social and political observations. She describes
her style as "conscious entertainment." Robert
Wilburn of the Los Angeles Times says Near is
" ... not only a songwriter with a wide range of
emotional shadings (from social comment to humor
to exceptional tenderness) but is also a
skillful and delightfully unpretentious perfonn
er." A strong and dedicated woman, she is her
own manager. She makes her own booking dates,
and even produced one of her records, "Hang in
there." Her most recent albums are "Holly Near,
a live album," and "'You can know all I am."
Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the
door ($3.SO) or in advance ($J.OO) from Elaine

A THOUGHT FOR THIS ISSUE:
A men's sports schedule is announced
on a large sign board placed along Towson-
town Boulevard near the gym. Why isn't a
women's sports schedule posted in the same
way?
