October 23, 1990 SGA Senate meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE UNIVERSITY Towson, Maryland 21204-7097 October 23, 1990 STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION MEETING Student Government Association Office of the Vice-President ( 301) 830-2711 The meeting was called to order at 4PM. The minutes of the last meeting were approved. PRESIDENT CAMERON: * Norman Sheets of the Provost's Office states that approximately $11,000 will be needed to finance extra Library hours; exact figure forthcoming. At that time, President Cameron would like Senate to write an appropriate bill. * New room assignments have been issued and will remain in effect as long as necessary. * President Cameron made a motion, seconded by Senator Kaufman to appoint Hassan Baroudy as Assistant Director of Organizational Advancement. Unanimous TREASURER HARRIS: * Budget deadline - November 12th FABs - November 19 and 20 Senate Hearings - December 5th and 6th. DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS: BILL CAMERON (report given by President Cameron)* American Express/Flair Communications providing 3 month calendars for all TSU students. Senators are to get the dates of projects/events for next semester from their groups so that these events may be printed on the calendar. * A meeting with reference to updating the showcases will be held 10/25, 8:15PM in the SGA office. * Deadline for ads to be incorporated into the SGA ad in the Towerlight is any/every Friday. DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATIONAL ADVANCEMENT: DEIRDRE MC ELROY * 10/30 - deadline for completed constitutions to be handed in to Deirdre. * 11/5 - updated list of constitutionally stated purposes of budget hearings will be made available. CHAIR: VICE-PRESIDENT KRAUS * SGA/SAB Special Events Committee is now held on Wednesdays at 2PM. Interested Senators should contact Vice-President Kraus. * In reference to Maurice Sendak, 11/4: reception will be held afterwards. Whether book signing will be permitted will be investigated by Vice-President Kraus. Senator White agreed to supply a professor from the Educational Department to act as 'companion' to Mr. Sendak. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: *David Berman: 1st meeting of the First Aid Club will be held 10/29, 6PM, Dowell Hall. All interested students are invited. *Carolyn Stockell stated that ROTC discriminates against non-heterosexuals and questioned the morality/legality/SGA responsibility of this discrimination. Deirdre McElroy stated that the SGA has a resolution against this act; however, it has not been incorporated into the University agenda as of date. CONSTITUTIONS INTRODUCED: International Club - to be handled by Government Operations.
