FILE TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SENATE -- October 22, 1968 The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Johnson at 3:35p.m. in Linth.200. OFFICER REPORTS: 1. President -- Mr. Wacks reported on Free University. he then announced that the firm of Caudill, Pollett, & Scott who have ben retained by the Board of Trustees to evaluate a master plan for the State Colleges will be on campus on Wednesday, Oct. 23, for the purpose of making a preliminary report and consulting with faculty and students. The students will meet on WEDNESDAY, at 5:00p.m. in Smith 140. On Thursday there will be an open forum in the student center with Dr. Hawkins at 2 p.m. On Friday there will be "Black Forum" in the student center from 11-2 p.m. Roll in all future Senate meetings will be called by name, not by organization. 2. Vice-President -- Mr. Johnson announced that there was a tie for this year's Homecoming Queen. he moved acceptance of a special election to break the tie. The motion was seconded and passed. The election will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the student center. 3. Social Chairman -- Eydie Pizarro told the organizations to let her know if they are sponsoring a car or a float in the Homecoming parage. The Social Advisory Committee is welcoming opinions on who can attend jam sessions. 4. Comptroller -- Mr. Hollywood moved acceptance of teh following financial committee resolution: Whereas the $25.00 Student Activities fee, instituted five years ago does not adequately cover increased expenses due to the increased student body and the higher cost of living, and Whereas there has ben an overallocation of $11,273.02 in Social, $3,086.85 in Service and $13,300.00 in Publications for a total overallocation this year of $22,278.97, and Whereas the money for Student Activities for this year must also cover, in part, an overallocation made last year, and Whereas the student activities fee of $25.00 per year is not adequate in covering expenses for student activities, Be it therefore resolved that the Senate and Board of Trustees raise immediately the Student Activities fee to $30.00 per year, and Be it further resolved that to provide for the immediate change in Student Activities fee, $5.00 will be collected in the Spring Semester of 1969 from each full-time day student and $15.00 (a $2.50 increase) from each new entering student. The motion was debated and Mr. Gordon moved to table the resolution until next Tuesday, feeling something as big as this needed comment from more students. Mr. Gordon's motion was seconded and passed. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS Mr. Anderson moved acceptance of the following resolution: Whereas certain political personages, while proclaiming their support for freedom of speech refuse to permit peaceful dissent and threaten dissenters with legal action, in direct violation of Articles I and IV of the Bill of Rights of the United States, and
