October 14, 1969 SGA Senate meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SENATE MINUTES, OCTOBER 14, 1969 The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Mr. Walkiewicz in Linthicum 200. OFFICERS REPORTS: 1. Mr. Walkiewicz announced that Mr. Neidig resigned as Co-ordinating Secretary and as Senate Parliamentarian. He further announed the resignationof Pat Moon, Senator of the class of '71. Mannie Rohas, President of the class of '71, appointed Mr. Neidig as the new senator for the class of '71. 2. Mr. Neidig moved that Senate dispense with the secretary's report. The motion was seconded and passed. There were no additions or corrections to the minutes. 3. Mr. Haupt announced the resignation of Jim Kraft as a member of the Financial Committee and requested a replacement. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS: Mr. Neidig moved to delay consideration of Mr. Johnson's financial proposal until Mr. Johnson arrived in Senate. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Cokran presented the chapel resolution number two and yielded the floor to Mr. Bruce Miller who moved that consideration of thE resolution be postponed and presented at the next Senate meeting under olf business. The motion was seconded and passed. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS: 1. Mr. Taylor called for the orders of the day when Mr. Johnson arrived in Senate. 2. Mr. Johnson was allowed to make his officers report. he stated that he was delayed due to student teaching and consequently he will be late for future Senate meetings. Mr. Johnson stated that at the next meeting of the College Senate the report on the fraternity-sorority system will be considered. It will be number three on the agenda. At the last meeting of the College Senate the alcohol policy was discussed. It was mentioned that alcoholic beverages be allowed only in approved facilities with special permission from the Dean of Students. Mr. Johnson stated an amendment that would require the college's policy coincide with existing state law. A special committee of three persons will work on this problem. Mr. Johnson requested that Dr. Fisher appoint Arlene Brandt to be on this committee. Mr. Johnson is the Parliamentarian of the College Senate.
