November 29, 1966 SGA Executive Committee meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING 11/29/66 The meeting was called to order at 3:40 p.m. by President Alan Diem in the SGA office. 1. Mr. Diem announced that this Friday there is a meeting of the Board of Trustees at Frostburg. Mr. Diem will attend and meet with the Board Friday afternoon. Mr. Diem announced that he will ask the Board about enrollment ceilings, dorm policy, independent treasuries, fraternities and sororities, football at Towson and bond issue in association with the new student unions. 2. Mr. Diem announced that on Monday at 1 p.m. there will be a meeting at Morgan State concerning drugs and especially LSD. Mr. Diem will attend. 3. Miss Georgulas announced that the treasurers meeting on December 3 will discuss the wording of a bill to be sent to the state legislature concerning state college treasuries in independent banks. 4. Dionne Warwick -- Mr. Diem talked with Miss Warwick's agent and suggested the amount of $1,800 for the concert. 5. Miss Berlett announced that Sweetheart Weekend is coming along. She is working on her committee for the weekend. There will be a meeting next week. 6. Mr. Diem announced that some staff members especially secretaries have been coming to our social functions, presenting activity cards and trying to get in free. They do not pay an activity fee. The Executive Committee felt that this should not be the practice. Miss Georgulas suggested a discount for the staff members. 7. Miss Miskelly said that she has been working on a definition of the word "inactive." Since we do not have a list of members of organizations, we cannot check on whether or not one-half of the members forming a new organization belonged to the old one. Inactive organizations must (1) not have filed a list of new officers; (2) not have been represented in Senate for two full consecutive semesters; (3) not have held meetings for two full consecutive semesters; and (4) not have declared itself inactive. Miss Miskelly will move to take the matter off the table at the next Senate meeting. 8. Procedure for forming a new organization -- Mr. Diem said that the lag between when an organization files and when it becomes an organization is much too long. Organizations can only meet during this period for the purpose of writing their constitution. Miss Miskelly felt that the organizations should meet during this period but should not incur debts. Miss Miskelly will talk to Dean Murphy about this matter. 9. Traffic Committee -- Mr. Norwood announced that the Traffic Committee has not met as yet. 10. At Student Life Committee meeting this Thursday, mr, Norwood's committee on mailboxes will report. 11. Publicity -- Miss Herminau met with Mr. Pugh and plans are being made to move the lockets in front of bulletin boards. The people int he lockers will be notified.
