MINUTES 11/22/66
The meeting was called to order by President Alan Diem at 3:40 p.m. in Smith Lecture
Hall. The minutes were read and approved as corrected.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Presidential --
a. Mr. Diem reviewed some of the results of the Executive Committee Meeting
held on November 15, 1966. He announced the need for a new ditto machine. The machine in the
SGA office may be used only for organization materials. Students should use either the ma-
chine in the Audio Visual Office or in the residence halls for personal use.
b. Mr. Diem also announced the voting taking place November 21 and 22 to decide
upon whether or not day-hope should have mail boxes.
c. Mr. Diem announced that a system has been set up for keeping track of resolu-
tions and revisions. Miss Tidemand and Mr. Saxon will head this system.
d. There will be a meeting on December 3 of all state college treasurers.
e. Miss Pat Rohde, who was inadvertently forgotten at the last Senate meeting,
was thanked for her job on Homecoming.
2. Treasurer -- Miss Georgulas announced a balance of $4,349.08. The balance is so
low because the $91,000.00 has not yet been credited to Towson in Annapolis. The purpose
of the treasurers meeting on December 3 is to try to get a bill to the legislature to get
state college treasuries back to a local bank. This bill was passed last year and defeated
by Governor Tawes veto.
We have a night depository at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust, and all funds
from any function on a campus must be turned into the SGA within 24 hours of the event.
Financial Committee attendence is compulsory. If members to not attend, they
will have to be stricken.
All treasurers and presidents should read the financial policy as each organization
is responsible for knowing this information.
3. a. Miss Miskelly announced that the constitutions of Psi Chi, Speech and Hear-
ing Association, Social Political Forum, Chemistry Club and Forum will be posted on the
SGA bulletin board and will be moved for acceptance at the next Senate meeting.
b. According to Article V of the Constitution every organization must revise its
constitution every three years. All revisions must be approved by the SGA Sentate. The
following organizations are due for constitution revisions at the present time: Phi Alpha
Theta, Baptist Student Union, YM-YWCA, OIU and in December 1966 Spanish Club will be due
for a revision.
4. Miss Ray announced that the Class of 1968 is sponsoring a Christmas Dance on Decem-
ber 10 from 9-11 p.m. It will be held at the Alcazar in Baltimore, Dress will be semi-
formal and music will be provided by the Lafayettes. Tickets will go on sale in Stephen's
Hall on Monday, December 5, at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. for student teachers
only They will also be on sale on Tuesday, December 6, at 11 p.m. and at 4 p.m. Students
must present I.D. cards to purchase tickets. Guest tickets will cost $2.00. An allotted
amount of tickets will go on sale at a time and will remain on sale until they are all sold.
Students may only obtain tickets for their date and themselves. They cannot purchase tickets
for other students. On Wednesday, December 7 students may place reservations for a table at
the dance, if they have a party of ten people. As is always the custom at the Christmas
Dance students are asked to bring to the dance a gift which wil be given to a needy child.
5. a. Mr. Norwood announced that the results of the Class of 1970 elections. They are as
follows: Bob Engle, President; Phil Carey, Vice President; Norman Stachura, Treasurer;
Art Bensen, Corresponding Secretary; Janice Erdbriak, Recording Secreatry; Carol Benner,
