November 18, 1969 SGA Senate meeting minutes

TOWSON STATE COLLEGE STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION SENATE MINUTES - NOVEMBER 18, 1969 The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m by Mr Walkiewicz in Li 200. OFFICERS REPORT: 1. Mr. Johnson stated that budgets will be reconsidered Tuesday, November 25. He requested that all Senators try to obtain feedback from students. Mr. Johnson wrote a letter to Tower Light to clarify and explain Senate procedure in reference to budget hearings. The Committee of College Governance chaired by Dean Shaw will hold open hearings in December. Mr. Johnson reported that because the Christmas Dance contracts were binding he approved the budget for the Class of '71. 2. The Integration Committee revived by Mr. Chapman has requested that 9 interested students contact Mr. Walkiewicz in the SGA office. 3. Mr. Neidig moved that Senate dispense with the reading of the minutes. The motion was seconded and passed. There were no additions or corrections to the minutes. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS: Mr. Van Dyke resolved that the SGA approve the Grading Reform Proposal formulated by the SGA Academic Reform Committee and urges the Standards Committee of the College to recommend that it be approved by the College Senate. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. OFFICERS REPORT: Mr. Neidig moved that Senate withdraw into Committee of the Whole in order to consider the remainded of the budgets. The motion was seconded and passed. Mr. Johnson moved that the Committee of the Whole rise and report so that the budget which had been approved in the committee could be voten upon. The motion was seconded and discussion followed. Mr. Neidig moved to amend the report of the committee to add $10,000 for Special Events. The motion was seconded and discussed. Mr. Neidig withdrew his motion. A vote was then taken on Mr. Johnson's motion and it passed. Although they were not announced, the findings of the Committee of the whole included the approval of the following budgets: SEE ATTACHED SHEET. Mr. Johnson announced reconsideration of all the budgets at the next Senate Meeting, November 25, 1969. Mr. Ottenstein moved that $1.50 be charged per couple for admission to the Christmas Dance and that the money collected be returned to Senate. The motion was seconded and passed.
