Second. I wanted to provide some information and suggestions that might help you with the transition from concentration to major. I am enclosing a list of ail students who are currently declared as Interdi sci pi i nary Studies majors with a concentrati or in Women’s Studies and those who are currently declared as Werner's Studies minors. There is also a set of labels with permanent addresses of these students. It might be a good idea to contact them with a reminder that the major will be effective in fall, 1993, so that any who wish to declare it may do so in a timalv manner . I have also included a number of Declaration of Major forms. Students who will be changing from IDIS to WMST will r.eec to complete a form, as will those changing from the minor to the major. Those wishing to retain current declarations need take no action . Also, those students who have applied, or intend to apply, for one of the uocoming graduating classes (January, May. or September. 1993) and wish to graduate with the Women’s Studies major, may nsec to delay their graduations. These students should contact the Graduation Office at 330-2095 or come to Room 223 in Administration. The question of tne catalog may arise when students are changing from the concentration to the major. Since students must be following the catalog in which the Women’s Studies major becomes effective (1993-94) in order to graduate with the major, they must officially select that catalog. The Academic Standards Committee has recently affirmed that students may select any catalog that has not expired, provided they are enrolled as degree candidates during that academic year. The Committee has also affirmed that those students who are currently following a pre-1 993-34 catalog and have a transfer option will not lc-se that option if they select the new catalog. Therefore, their GURs will not be affected.
