TOWSON STATE UNIVERSITY TOWSON, MARYLAND, 21204 Department of Business Administration (301) 321-2934 M E M O R A N D U M TO Dean Norma Long FROM: Dr. Susan Maples DATE: May 7, 1984 As per your request during our last meeting, I have reviewed the Second Bachelor's Program entitled Women in Management; and I have suggested courses as requirements within the Business Administration area of study. I have changed the outline as presented in the cataloge since I felt that more study needed to. be directed toward business courses rather than such areas as psychology, sociology or women's studies. My reasoning here is two-fold. First, some of these women are seeking a second bachelors because they already have backgrounds in psychology, sociology or more liberal arts emphasis. Also, in attempting to market themselves to future or even current employers, certain basic business skills must be developed or this degree will not be marketable in their endeavor to improve their employment potentials and/or opportunities. This curriculum could also be augmented by evening seminars on women in management, corporate gamesmanship for women or other such related topics. If a seminar is not possible, guest speakers on these subjects could instruct one evening class as a guest speaker in Management Theory or Women in Perspective. After you have had time to review this material, I'd appreciate meeting with you to discuss your opinion of this memo and the attached curriculum.
