Elaine Solez, Jan Wilkotz, and I are going to Boston to attend an important Women's Studies Conference at the end of the month. We have $100 in our budget for this purpose* If we all have to stay in hotels Friday and Saturday, it is likely to cost each of us over $100. Jan and possibly Elaine may be able to stay with friends; I will be in a hotel. Could you supplement our travel funds to cover all or part of our expenses? I understand that you are reveiwing all travel funds with an eye to increasing them if possible. Each year Women’s Studies has asked for much more than we received. We feel that it is especially important for us and our faculty to attend conferences on Women's Studies because it is anew and rapidly developing area. The quality of our program has not received the nationwide attention that it deserves partly because we cannot be more active in attending conferences.
