I therefore want you to encourage recruitment committees in all departments to keep in mind, as they conduct their searches, the University's need for faculty who are familiar with feminist scholarship in their disciplines. Just as the University is committed to diversity in its faculty searches, so too is it committed to gender equity and to the infusion of the new scholarship on women into the traditional ·:disciplines.
