Period over which pilot assessment activities will be con¬ ducted : Pilot assessment of student written work— exams and papers-- in a student folder format will begin during the academic year 1994-1995. A meeting will be held April 21, 1994 with all majors to inform them of the assessment plan and explain the student folder format. Collection of data will begin this spring, 1994 and will continue in subsequent semesters. Assessment of the student folders of graduating majors will begin May 1994 with a pilot, and will then be conducted in January and May each year. 2. Schedule of assessment of curriculum objectives: The 1994 pilot assessment will assess curriculum objectives in the following areas. We have chosen two areas of knowledge, two skills, and two values. force Knowledge: Knowledge of women’s art and creativity Knowledge of women’s experience in the labor sis. tut ions Skills: Ability to apply gender as a category of analy- Ability to critique social and cultural insti- Values: Belief in the authority of women’s experiences and in women as perceivers and knowers. Respect for differences and appreciation of cultural, ethnic, class, racial, and other diversity. These items will be used to assess two of the learning outcomes described in our assessment document: Women’s contributions to and creation of culture in their societies (outcome #1) The impact of society and social institutions on women (outcome #3)
